STRATEGIC AUDIT

Essential Review Questions

Critical checkpoints to identify ergonomic conflicts and prioritize layout decisions before finalizing your interior plans.

Circulation & Flow

  • Does the primary traffic path cross directly through a seated conversation group?
  • Is there at least 90cm of clearance between walls and large furniture items?
  • Do door swings interfere with adjacent cabinets or other door openings?

Furniture Placement

  • Is the television placed at a comfortable eye level (typically 105-115cm from floor)?
  • Can everyone seated in the living area reach a surface for a drink without standing?
  • Is there sufficient 'push back' space (approx. 80cm) behind dining chairs?

Sightlines & Privacy

  • From the entry door, is the interior of any bathroom or bedroom visible?
  • Does the sofa orientation maximize the best external view available?
  • Is there a visual buffer between the cooking zone and the primary relaxation zone?

Lighting & Power

  • Are light switches located exactly where you would naturally reach when entering?
  • Are there electrical outlets within 1.5m of where any desk or bedside table will sit?
  • Is natural light prioritized for work surfaces and kitchen prep areas?

Zoning Efficiency

  • Are high-noise appliances (laundry/dishwasher) isolated from sleep zones?
  • Is the 'work triangle' in the kitchen unobstructed by traffic or seating?
  • Are active zones (living/dining) clearly separated from passive zones (bedroom)?

Utility & Storage

  • Is there a dedicated landing surface for keys and mail near the entry?
  • Is seasonal storage accessible without using a ladder or heavy lifting?
  • Does every bedroom have adequate linear wall space for a full wardrobe?
